Job Purpose: This position is responsible for the safety and supervision of children while their parents are participating in counseling sessions, activities, or classes at the clinic. This also includes age-appropriate educational program through play with the children, groups for parents, and supporting events. The Cohen Military Clinic at Aspire Health Partners provides outpatient mental health services to Active Duty Servicemembers, Veterans, National Guard, Reservists, and their family members.
Job Functions
- Supervise, actively interact and play with children in activities that can include the following actions: reading, drawing, coloring, puzzles, games, and playing with toys.
- Lead and collaborate in creating and implementing groups or activities with the kids or for the parents such as parenting groups, community event support, or family activities.
- Tracking inventory of needed supplies related to program such as toys, games, crayons/markers, etc.)
- Establish effective interpersonal relationships through honest, open communication with co-workers, children, and parents.
- Provides comfort to upset children.
- Provides feedback to parents.
- Act in a professional manner at all times providing maximum customer service.
- Be responsible for the safety of self, participants, room, equipment, materials and other areas of the clinic. Follow all safety procedures. Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents.
- Become CPR and First Aid certified. Perform CPR and First Aid if needed.
- Attends and participates in groups, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training, as needed / required.
- Disinfect equipment and toys during shifts.
- Most importantly, all functions must be completed while maintaining high standards of ethical and professional conduct while adhering to agency policies and procedures.
Position qualifications: Ability to receive and maintain a(n)
- Level II Background clearance
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle Registration driver's license record in accordance with the underwriting guidelines set by Aspire's insurance company as described in the AHP Corporate Transportation Policy 3.9.1.
- HS Diploma
- Prior experience working with children required.
- Ability to learn and manage computer programs related to electronic health records, Microsoft word, excel, etc. as needed.
