Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Internal Auditing

• Plan, conduct, and document internal audits across clinical and administrative departments.

• Evaluate compliance with Joint Commission standards, CMS requirements, state regulations, and organizational policies.

• Identify documentation deficiencies, process gaps, and clinical practice opportunities.

• Develop recommendations and corrective action plans to strengthen compliance and quality.

• Collaborate with department leaders to resolve audit findings and monitor progress.

Medical Records Review & Compliance

• Review clinical records for accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and adherence to best practices.

• Ensure documentation meets regulatory, accreditation, and agency standards.

• Support preparation for accreditation reviews, surveys, and licensing activities.

• Maintain detailed records of audits, findings, corrective actions, and follow-up activities.

Quality Improvement & Performance Excellence

• Support the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives aligned with organizational goals.

• Analyze clinical data and performance metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities.

• Facilitate root cause analyses and action planning for adverse events and quality concerns.

• Monitor outcomes and provide regular reporting to leadership teams.

Education & Collaboration

• Deliver education and training related to documentation standards, quality expectations, and audit readiness.

• Serve as a resource to clinical and operational teams regarding quality improvement and compliance practices.

• Partner with quality management and clinical leadership to ensure alignment of organizational objectives.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Public Health, Health Administration, or a related field.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare quality assurance, medical records auditing, or internal auditing within a healthcare or behavioral health environment.

• Strong understanding of behavioral health regulations, clinical standards, and healthcare compliance requirements.

• Experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.

• Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and performance measurement.

• Exceptional analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

• Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct.

Preferred

• Master's degree in a related field.

• Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or similar certification.

• Experience supporting Joint Commission surveys and accreditation activities.
