Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Internal Auditing
- Plan, conduct, and document internal audits across clinical and administrative departments.
- Evaluate compliance with Joint Commission standards, CMS requirements, state regulations, and organizational policies.
- Identify documentation deficiencies, process gaps, and clinical practice opportunities.
- Develop recommendations and corrective action plans to strengthen compliance and quality.
- Collaborate with department leaders to resolve audit findings and monitor progress.
Medical Records Review & Compliance
- Review clinical records for accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and adherence to best practices.
- Ensure documentation meets regulatory, accreditation, and agency standards.
- Support preparation for accreditation reviews, surveys, and licensing activities.
- Maintain detailed records of audits, findings, corrective actions, and follow-up activities.
Quality Improvement & Performance Excellence
- Support the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
- Analyze clinical data and performance metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Facilitate root cause analyses and action planning for adverse events and quality concerns.
- Monitor outcomes and provide regular reporting to leadership teams.
Education & Collaboration
- Deliver education and training related to documentation standards, quality expectations, and audit readiness.
- Serve as a resource to clinical and operational teams regarding quality improvement and compliance practices.
- Partner with quality management and clinical leadership to ensure alignment of organizational objectives.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Public Health, Health Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare quality assurance, medical records auditing, or internal auditing within a healthcare or behavioral health environment.
- Strong understanding of behavioral health regulations, clinical standards, and healthcare compliance requirements.
- Experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and performance measurement.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct.
Preferred
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or similar certification.
- Experience supporting Joint Commission surveys and accreditation activities.
